I grew up in Iran, and in my childhood absorbed a love for that country’s beautiful and colorful traditional arts – carpet weaving, ceramics, calligraphy, and miniature painting.

All of these  show a love of design and vivid color, and a close connection to the shapes and forms of the natural world.

Although I explored painting as a student (and later as a teacher), I rarely had a chance to do serious work. In 2000, while living in the West African country of Mauritania, I found time to begin painting, and joined a painting group.  I found ample inspiration in the proud people and spectacular desert and ocean landscapes of that vast and empty country.

In the United States, after retiring from government service in 2005, I began painting seriously, adding to my knowledge through courses and study trips to France and Italy. I have continued working mostly in oil, watercolor and acrylic.  I have also come to enjoy photography. I sometimes use my photographs as a basis for painting, and sometimes I exhibit the photographs themselves.

At exhibitions, my bright colors in oil, acrylic and watercolor have always attracted art lovers. My website is my virtual gallery to exhibit my artwork and my love of color in both figurative and abstract work in all mediums.
